The Arkansas Department of Education, Office of Early Childhood (OEC) in partnership with the ADE Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce the release of School Readiness Assistance, SRA Portal replacing the age-old (17-year-old system to be precise) KidCare Voucher System (also known Child Care Eligibility System).
The SRA Portal is part of Child Care Modernization Project and L.E.A.R.N.S. initiative in building a unified and comprehensive Early Childhood Care and Education System. The Early Childhood School Readiness Program is administered by the OEC, to include Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) and Child Care Development Fund (CCDF). The purpose of the program/system is to increase the availability, affordability, and quality of childcare services for families in the state of Arkansas. Families who are eligible for assistance receive free or reduced childcare at approved state licensed providers, pending the availability of funds.

The external systems integration (SI) with which the SRA interfaces for various purposes are:
- AASIS: Arkansas Administrative Statewide Information System
- ARIES: Arkansas Integrated Eligibility System
- CHRIS: Arkansas current Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS)
- ELS: Enterprise Licensing System
- TRIAND: K-12 Electronic Transcript System

School Readiness Assistance | SRA Portal "Go-Live" on November 12, 2024
The ADE: Office of Early Childhood (OEC) is pleased to announce the release of School Readiness Assistance (SRA) Portal - Citizen Portal.
Phase - I Release: CITIZEN PORTAL
The SRA - Citizen Portal is scheduled to “Go-Live” on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 08:00 A.M. CST. Upon Registration, Citizens (Families) will be required to establish their Profile first. Once the Profile is approved by the OEC staff, as part of Step 2: the Applications for School Readiness Assistance can be submitted digitally via the SRA - Citizen Portal.
Phase - II Release: PROVIDER PORTAL
The SRA - Provider Portal is scheduled to “Go-Live” on Wednesday, December 04, 2024 at 08:00 A.M. CST.
Data Migration and Planned IT Outage: SRA PORTAL
The Kid Care to School Readiness Assistance data migration is scheduled for December 01, 2024 through December 03, 2024. This is an planned IT Outage reserved for migration, maintenance and code-base deployment tasks. The SRA Portal will be back up and running on December 04, 2024 at 08:00 A.M. CST.

SRA Insight
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE): Office of Early Childhood (OEC) Insight Tool provides a deep understanding and an intuitive insight on the data hosted within the School Readiness Assistance (SRA) database. The site is maintained by the ADE Office of Information Technology (IT) Shared Services (IT-SS). This deep understanding helps ADE and OEC make better decisions using Data-driven decision-making (DDDM) than by relying on gut instinct.

ADE Launches New School Readiness Assistance System
The Arkansas Department of Education’s Office of Early Childhood is excited to launch the new School Readiness Assistance system. This updated system replaces the Kid Care system, which helped eligible families access federal child care assistance for more than 17 years.

ADE Selects 6 Organizations for Third Local Leads Cohort to Improve Early Childhood Education
The Arkansas Department of Education announced today the six organizations selected for the third early childhood local leads cohort. With this third cohort, all 75 counties are now represented by 26 organizations focused on creating a comprehensive, localized plan to ensure children and families can access high-quality early childhood education programs in their communities.

Study ranks Arkansas first in early childhood education
A study conducted by WalletHub shows that Arkansas has the best early education system in America. The study uses 12 metrics to determine its rankings. Cassandra Happe, an analyst for WalletHub, said those 12 metrics can be grouped into three main categories: access, quality, and resources and economic support.

ADE Selects 13 Organizations for Second Local Leads Cohort to Improve Early Childhood Education
The Arkansas Department of Education is pleased to announce today the 13 organizations selected for the second early childhood education local leads cohort. These organizations, combined with the first cohort of 12 organizations announced in November 2023, represent 65 counties around the state and will establish a comprehensive, localized plan to ensure children and families have access to high-quality early childhood education in their communities.

Arkansas Expands Child Care Assistance Program to Early Child Care Employees, Adoptive Parents
The Arkansas Department of Education’s Office of Early Childhood is pleased to now offer child care assistance to early child care workers and adoptive parents who qualify for the program. Arkansas becomes one of only a few states in the country to expand the program to these new groups.
